Overstock.com commerical

Ok. I’ve been seeing this commercial a lot lately and I think it’s a cute one. Apparently, they’re a real traveling singing couple and what not! I didn’t think that they were. Like usual, I thought they were two actors hired for their ads?! If you haven’t seen it, here’s a clip

So,I did some more research and found this video! It’s a clip of an audition tape they sent into a show called,”Can You Duet”? Never heard of it! Anyways, the clip is called, “Love Story” and here it is

They are too cute! Seriously? How have they NOT gotten any bigger than this? Cute couple with good voices! Gives ya hope that there’s REAL love out there huh?

The best shows you are not watching part 2

There are so many channels on our cable and satellite that we sometimes overlook shows that are very good. As a result of this, most of these shows often loose ratings and are canceled or it can take a great turn and become phenomenons!

True Blood
3a6c1f2trueblood

Alan Ball, creator of Six Feet Under, returns to HBO with a new series based on the novel series Southern Vampire by Charlaine Harris. The series follows Sookie Stackhouse, a telepathic barmaid who finds comfort in the company of vampires since they have no brainwave activity for her to read. She and her brother Jason were raised by her grandmother after losing their parents in a flood and she tries to keep her telepathic ability a secret. Thanks largely in part to the creation of a Japanese-made synthetic blood called True Blood (where the series takes it name) vampires have make their existence known to the world. Sookie works at the bar ‘Merlotte’s’ which is owned and operated by her boss Sam Merlotte who has a secret of his own.

Fantastic show! That’s all I have to say!

It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia
sunny16bt

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is a sitcom on FX, starring (and created by) Rob McElhenny, Glenn Howerton, and Charlie Day. It’s about four friends (the fourth friend played by Kaitlin Olson) who run an Irish bar in Philadelphia. The series deals with serious topics such as abortion rights, gun control, racism, and gay rights, but in humorous ways. The show debuted in August 2005.

According to Rob McElhenny, who was recently on a Philadelphia radio program, word of mouth on the show has been good and FX has renewed it for a second season, set to premiere June 29, 2006. Danny DeVito will join the cast for season 2.

The first season’s final episode aired on September 13, 2005. Reruns of edited versions of first season episodes began airing on FX’s parent network FOX in 2006.

4a9af0000050917

Adapted from Australia’s hit comedy of the same title, is a look into the minutiae of middle-class suburbia that digs deep into the daily lives of Kath, a cheerful, forty-something divorcee, and her self-absorbed daughter, Kim. It’s the love and hate, push and pull, of the dysfunctional relationship only a mother and daughter could share.

The best shows you are not watching or not watching enough of

Hey all! Happy Belated New Year! My computer got a virus so I have been indisposed for a while and have been unable to write any blogs…until now. While on my hiatus, I caught up on some television viewing and rekindled my love affair for the shows I lost time to watch and found new loves of those I haven’t seen before. Here’s a list. First up,

Damages

homepagemain

DAMAGES is a legal thriller set in the world of New York City high-stakes litigation. The series follows the turbulent lives of Patty Hewes (Glenn Close) the nation’s most revered and reviled high-stakes litigator and her bright, ambitious protégé Ellen Parsons (Rose Byrne) as they become embroiled in a class action lawsuit targeting the allegedly corrupt Arthur Frobisher (Ted Danson), one of the country’s wealthiest CEOs. As Patty battles with Frobisher and his attorney Ray Fiske (Željko Ivanek) Ellen Parsons will be front and center witnessing just what it takes to win at all costs, as it quickly becomes clear that lives, as well as fortunes, may be at stake.

This show is gritty, cutthroat and dirty. I love it! It basically takes women, throws them in the shark tank of crime, money laundering and good ole’embezzlement and, shows that women can be just as devious(maybe even more) and dangerous as men are. It shows us the high stakes and dangerous world of the high-powered lawyers. The show just started it’s second season so, there is only the first season to catch up on. It airs Wednesdays at 10e/9c. If you miss it, remember you can always check out sites like Hulu or FX. The home site has the complete first season that you can watch for free!

Dexter
212c58f0000050907

Dexter is a television drama series based on the novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay and adapted for television by Emmy Award-winning screenwriter James Manos, Jr., who wrote the pilot episode. Set in Miami, the series centers on Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall), a serial killer governed by an ambiguous moral code who works for the Miami Metro Police Department as a blood spatter analyst.

One of my absolute favorite shows on TV right now. I summarize “Dexter” as a blood splatter analysis by day and serial killer by night. Well,he is a serial killer to some extent. He justifies his killings as “wrongs made right”. He preys on the pedophiles, rapists and anyone that has done something wrong to someone or something innocent. I personally, don’t know many people that have heard of this show or even seen a preview. It mostly comes from the show being on Showtime and not many people subscribe to this channel. Fear not! There are many sites you can catch up on these thrilling shows. Enjoy!!

The Secret Life of An American Teenager
245500000049415

Amy and Ben are just your normal high school couple, except she’s having a baby (and it’s not his). Super-Christian Grace thought she and Jack were for keeps, but then he cheated on her with wild-child Adrian Lee. This threw Grace into the arms of bad-boy Ricky (the father of Amy’s baby). As secrets and scandals begin to surface at Grant High, with they bring the students and their families together – or tear them apart?

I stumbled on this show one night channel surfing. Watched the two episodes that aired and, I’ve been hooked ever since. This is also in its second season so I’ve been busy catching up on season one, you won’t be disappointed. ABC Family has clips of season one and some of this season is up on it’s main site.

Mad Men
7eb7700000403292

Set in 1960s New York, the sexy, stylized and provocative AMC drama Mad Men follows the lives of the ruthlessly competitive men and women of Madison Avenue advertising, an ego-driven world where key players make an art of the sell. The series revolves around the conflicted world of Don Draper (Hamm), the biggest ad man (and ladies man) in the business, and his colleagues at the Sterling Cooper Advertising Agency. As Don makes the plays in the boardroom and the bedroom, he struggles to stay a step ahead of the rapidly changing times and the young executives nipping at his heels. The series also depicts authentically the roles of men and women in this era while exploring the true human nature beneath the guise of 1960s traditional family values.

Okay. For a big laugh and some interesting night-time TV viewing check out My Big Redneck Wedding. It airs on CMT and the website has previous full videos of the show.

Movie flashback: Howard the Duck

Happy New Year to everyone! I hope 2009 is a better year for many, including myself!
I am on vacation in New York with my dad and his flavor of the month. It’s about 11:10am on New Year’s morning and, we don’t have plans till later. I went on Hulu to check out the new content that was added over the past few days. If anyone has STILL not checked it out please do. This site has allowed viewers(U.S. viewers, not available to anyone outside the U.S. at this moment) to view free streaming video of TV shows and movies for free. Yes,it’s LEGAL! I wrote about it in my my 4 quick ways to watch tv and movie for free
.
htd

I saw that they added “Howard the Duck”. Quite a bit of people have seen this and some of the ones that haven’t either love it or absolutely hate it. I have seen this movie quite a bit when I was younger. I actually like it’s campiness and the weird vibe of a talking duck, that lives his life as a playa. LOL.
I am going to post two of the comments that Hulu has gotten on this movie over the past few days.

Disgraceful
This film is an abomination. The lowest form of crap. It is not just the bottom of the barrel, it is below the barrel. The bottom of the barrel is on top of it. I am shocked that so many people actually enjoy this horrible film. It is a disgrace to the name of filmmaking. Anyone who likes this film is an idiot. No offense, but they clearly have no idea what a good film is. Anyone who has a brain cell in their head will definately hate this film. Do not waste your time.

Or this lovely person that has written a letter to Hulu about them advertise the recent added of the film to their banner. Dearest letter writer:
Hulu advertises ALL TV shows and movies they add to the site on their banner!

Here’s a letter I just sent to HULU:
Dearest Hulu:
I know that convincing owners of content to allow you to post through your portal has been a tough sell, as evidence by the overall quality and quantity of the movies available.
However, even though a relatively new addition, it’s not a really good idea to be hyping the fact that you just added “Howard the Duck” into rotation.
Why? Its one of the worst movies ever made….its almost as bad as Ed Wood’s “Plan 9 from Outer Space” (but not as campy fun)
1. It isn’t going to get current hulu subscribers excited. It won’t be rallying “the base”
2. It certainly isn’t going to serve as incentive to convince new users to subscribe
3. Hyping HTD has the brief whiff of desperation about it. Perception is Reality.
I love hulu, and can’t wait for content creators to catch up with you!

People are entitled to their opinions and views of any movie or tv show put on there. Why do people think they were FORCED to watch the content that Hulu has so graciously allowed us to view? The content on there may not be recent especially, if you want to view movies and maybe, the list of movies to watch is a little sparse and B-rated like “The Toxic Avenger”, “Bloody Mallory” or “The Thing”. That was the 80’s! The movies that were made and produced for the 80’s is what it is. I can name quite a few of them that I sat and watched. It might not have seemed silly or stupide them, but they are made the 80’s an era of ” I can’t believe I used to watch that!” or ” What was I thinking when I wore that”?.
I talked about “The Pirate Movie” in an earlier post that I liked and, I watched it again a few days ago and I laughed to myself, thinking why did I like this movie? I look at it now and, the acting wasn’t great, the dancing was sub par and the storyline was corny…but I still LOVE it! What other era can you get these types of movies call it “cheesy” and say,“this is a classic” all in one sentence? We can surely thank George Lucas for this movie
